A front wheel balance where your front foot is on the peg and your back leg is swinging back and forth for balance.
How do it
The hang five is a front wheel balance where you ride on the front wheel with your front foot on the peg, saddle proped against your backside, and your back legs helps keep balance by swinging back and forth. You should look forward at all times. Keep your arms straight and your front leg slightly bent. Before attempting this trick, I suggest you try getting into hang five position and balancing with your hanging leg. Don't ride anywhere, just do it standing in place. You can also try slightly pushing off from the ground and gaining a little bit a speed. You must also learn to jump over the handlebars, since quite often your body weight can go a little too forward and you can no longer hold your balance. To avoid falling on your hands, throw your arms down and jump forward over the handlebars, safely exiting the trick.
1.
First of all we need to learn how to enter the hang five without a jump. Ride slowly and place your front leg on the front peg.
2.
Now perform several movements simultaneously: quickly shift your body weight forward via your arms and your back leg, and throw the rear wheel upward, until the saddle touches your bum. Make sure to keep looking forward.
3.
As soon as the saddle touches you from behind, you need to ''settle in'', now holding it in this position. When doing a hang five, the saddle should be propped against your backside at all times. Your hold your balance by swinging your back leg back and forth. The more you practice, the quicker you'll learn to keep balance. You usually exit this trick with a hop. Jump off the peg back onto the pedal.
4.
Once you've learned to hold your balance, you can try entering the hand five from a hop or bunny hop: both feet start off on the pedals, then you simultaneously do a hop/bunny hop, shift your weight forward and place your front foot on the peg, throw your bike into hang five position and balance.
